Hotel de l’Orient has classic French colonial style features. The building has been restored in the year 2000 when it won the UNESCO Asia Pacific award for sensitive restoration. Originally, the building was used as the Directorate of Education and ground floor was restored already at 1746. The hotel has a full street frontage surrounding a large central courtyard. The building is entered by a segmental arched doorway that is flanked by rendered pilaster and Corinthian capitals with a decorative balcony supported on iron brackets.
