Why conserve old buildings?

They are a living testimony of the French and Tamil historical and cultural relationship, which should be preserved for future generations.

They are beautiful and better adapted to the local climate than modern buildings. In the Boulevard area, the replacement of one-or two-storey houses by multi-storey flats or shopping complexes will result in an increased population which the street system and urban infrastructure cannot accommodate without traffic jams, parking problems, water shortage, etc.

They were built on the principles of vaastu.

Their preservation and maintenance will promote touristic attraction and contribute to the economic development.
